What about just plain stupidity?

Bush.

Well I really shouldn't have to say anything more, but why today?

Two relatively recent proposed amendments to the United States Constitution (Thank you Wiki) made the news again. That was their point anyway, to rally conservative people ahead of the mid-term elections. The first one was about banning gay marriage. The other one, that was almost approved by the senate today, was to "prohibit the physical desecration of the flag".

What stupidity. The flag is a "cherished symbol needing protection"? lol How do you protect a symbol? Maybe it needs an army of symbols to go invade other evil icons in a preemptive war. But seriously (well not really), what if I burn a flag with the red and white stripes inverted? Would anyone notice in the first place? Would the symbol "be safer"?

Inverted-stripes burning flag(This is not a burning American flag. And I don't mean it in Magritte's way.)

While they're at it, maybe they should amend they're god's "constitution": "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image". Surely god didn't mean it for the flag. After all, how could he be unpatriotic?

(My apologies to World Mission Collection for desecrating their image.)
